I'm hoping someone can help. This may seem really simple but I am quite new to this. When I render in LightUp it creates really thick black edges around everything. I've tried amending by un ticking / hiding edges but it still does it. Please can someone advise how I can stop this from happening?
Thanks in advance

Just wanted to announce to the community that we have just released PlaceMaker 1.1 which includes our new geo-location tool that is completely independent of SketchUp's Add Location Tool.
This means that:
- SketchUp 2016 users can geo-locate their models with PlaceMaker, even after the May 22 change
- SketchUp Make user can geo-locate their models with PlaceMaker (for non-Commercial use of course)
The tool uses DigitalGlobe imagery and imports a low resolution 'snap-shot' similar to how SketchUp's Add Location tool works. Sorry, terrain import is not available with this tool.
The tool is available for free as part of a PlaceMaker Trial license. In order to import high resolution imagery over a large area, a full license for PlaceMaker is required.
You can order a free trial at:

Can anyone help?
Watching YouTube videos it seems that under the tools menu, there is an option to "Convert arcs, circles, arcs, lines to cylinder". I do not seem to have that and I cannot find an extension for it!
I would really appreciate a quick response on this as I am on a deadline.
Thank you guys.

Fredo6 makes great extensions, but so-so tutorials...
In this instance, I'm trying to use the scaling functionality that allows one to move the plane from which the partial scaling of a group can be achieved.
The (silent) tutorial that covers the topic only mentions the F4 key as the toggle for this, but my mac has other ideas as to what happens when I try this.
PNG's of what I'm trying to get to, taken from the tutorial "https://youtu.be/bPbb8PPGtVg" at about the 3 minute mark, referring to a "scaling box", along with the grey-boxed tool's icon:![]()

Hi,
Just wanted to shine some light on this neat piece of software called Enscape we have been trialing together with the HTC Vive. It by far is a pretty awesome plugin if you are a both a Sketchup and Revit power user. Best part it is plug and play directly within the editor and has relatively simple controls to change the environment. It has no interactivity with 3D objects though
, BUT it does have a live update link with Sketchup meaning you can use scenes as an alternative. It also requires a very powerful machine to use the Vive in the first place.
Screenshot below is direct render from plugin enscape with a bunch of warehouse models. Were making a little VR play area to showcase uses in a construction context i.e. MEP, Details BIM stuff etc.. This is a great solution for those that dont know how to use Unity 3D and just want a VR/rendering solution that works directly in either Revit or Sketchup. This also has a particular advantage over Autodesk Live in that it does not require processing to take it to the Live editor. Rendering output for both Live and Enscape are relatively similar.
If anyone has used alternate VR plugin solution for client/construction visualization, please share

Hello.
I have a question about Sketchup extension signature.
We distribute our extension in two ways:
- by *.rbz package submission using Extension Warehouse;
- using our custom installer without *.rbz inside (for corporate purposes). So, can we sign source code without *.rbz or extract some data from signed *.rbz package and include it in our installer?
Note: both *.rbz and custom installer include the same source code.Thank you!

I'm sorry, I'm getting tired of this, but I lost part of my left brain in a stroke. So, every time something comes up, and I am forced to take a break, I forget little things, like how to get these three pieces from quadface to SubD where I can use the vertex tools. I need someone to break it down for me, instead of "showing" it to me
(gosh, I can't believe I just said that). If you could help that would be great!

Panoramic backgrounds for SketchUp models
Continuing the discussion from Total Station / Point Cloud data import into SketchUp:
I searched for existing discussion threads, ...
https://forums.sketchup.com/search?q=panorama
... but did not find a dedicated thread and I think the topic of panoramic backgrounds does deserve it's own topic thread for discussion. So, this is a thread on:
- using extensions to make panoramic backgrounds inside SketchUp models
- or in external renderers / animators, etc.
- or perhaps what native functionality SketchUp needs to better support panoramic backgrounds
