I installed Vray for sketchup and everything works fine until i try to render it doesn’t work, the message that appears is “no implicit conversion of nil into string”. Can anyone please help me?

OpenCutList giving a cross section error
First time using both sketchup and the extension Open Cut List.
Sketchup version is Make 2017 on OS X
OpenCutList version 1.9
I assigned material to each component and when trying to view parts list all the dimensional lumber types show Cross section not available, what does that mean and how can I fix it?

Vray render Interior Settings
Hey everybody!
I’m currently working on my first render with Vray 42002 for SketchUp 2020 but struggling with good results at the moment. Already checked a few tutorials and websites, but I have the feeling my scene is quite complicated since there are a lot of windows with daylight and dark corners at the same time. Maybe someone has some tips and tricks for a beginner?
The current status is attached, its a low resolution Redner but you can see already that there are some settings missing.

Problems with texture
hi guys, i have a problem with sketchup textures. I’ll explain better. I have to put a wallpaper on the plaster of a room. The problem is that the image shells when I go to climb it. It has a 6000x6000 px of resolution, so there should be no problem for a 3m wall. Can you help me ??

Sketchup V-ray component materials not loading properly
Hey everyone, first time posting here, pretty desperate! I’m pretty new to using v-ray with sketchup.
My problem is this, I’ve got a pretty heavy scene so to make things easier to work, we’ve seperated it into components for say landscape, architecture, structure etc. I then work on the smaller files individually and then reload the components.
Here’s the problem : some vray materials are applied in more than one component, and the ‘duplicate’ materials seem to lose their properties in the main file.
I’ve attached a few screenshots as examples.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem, I’d be very grateful!

Noise final render vray
Hello guys, certainly you will know how to help me. I can’t understand why my final render has this bad resolution. The image is 4500x3375 in very high, but the noise remains. If I activate the denoiser the result is terrible!!

Join to Vray VFB freezes in SketchUp during interactive rendering
Hi! I’m using V-ray for SU for almost a year. And all this time I’m getting freezing during interactive rendering. Error in accepting Lumion 10
Hi, My sketchup model is 88MB and it can’t load/accept to Lumion 10. I have deleted all polygons and remove some furniture but still can’t download to Lumion. Any recommendations? Thanks

Wrapper material in Vray for Sketchup doesn't catch shadows
Hello everyone. I can’t solve this problem for like month, so I will be glad for any advice. I try to place objects on real photography, so in order to make objects reflection on the floor/walls, I need to apply matte wrapper material to floor/walls as a shadow catcher and make the walls invisible to reveal the photo. Basically as they show in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUVhgupu7fs&t=7s .
I follow the instructions, yet my wrapper material doesn’t catch any shadow. It does reflect materials, when i use a very glossy material as a base to the wrapper, yet still no shadows. Any ideas, where should be the issue?

An extension that automatically generates faces?
Hello friends.
I have a question: is it possible, with an extension, to automatically create faces in places where groups touch each other?
I imagine something like clicking on the faces of the groups and new faces are automatically generated.

Exterior Glass reflections
Hi, Can someone help me with the setting for getting good reflections for a glass building. I am using Vray Next with Sketchup Pro 2020.
One of my rendering worked fine and was looking great ( using Vray material ).
I had to make some corrections to the model the next day (and not touched glass objects), then the render turns out ( glass is ) flat , no reflections.
I tried to do a trial of same material on a basic box model and the reflections are fine. Only on my actual model of the building the reflections are turning out without reflections.

V-Ray adds 20MB to skp?!
Hello friends. I was working on a SketchUp file and noticed something. My project was actually quite small, almost 4MB. then I played with some V-Ray settings and I noticed my file size got bigger, almost 24MB.
Then I clicked on “Revert to Default Render Settings” in V-Ray Asset Editor and file size lose almost 20MB.
Is it something normal with V-Ray? did anyone experience this?

Foundation Design Difficulty
I’m struggling to use @medeek foundation to model the design I want:

I’m wanting a Frost Protected Shallow Foundation (FPSF).
- Basically a Stem Wall foundation that extends above grade to roughly 30", with continuous insulation including the footing on the exterior.
- INSIDE that will be a slab without footing (piggybacking on the stem wall footing, actually), insulated below with appropriate fill below the insulation.
- Since the crawl space will have both the water supply coming up from a buried (below frost level) lateral - and a holding tank for greywater (once I figure out a way to pump it out!), I plan on conditioning the crawl space to keep it above 40 F.
NOT shown on the picture or layout file is what’s happening above this! But just FYI:
- Sill Plate
- Floor and Rim Joists - 2 x ??? (probably 8 to span 12’ cabin width) - with a SMALL amount of insulation. I don’t mind if the main cabin heat “leaks” into the crawl space, but I still intend to have the crawl space as it’s own “zone” at 40 F!
- Subfloor
- Etc
- 2x4 stick built walls w/ sheathing/insulation on outside to match with insulation on exterior of foundation
My questions are simple:
- How do I model this? I prefer to use @Medeek Foundation, but aren’t wedded to it.
- What do you think of this approach?
I do plan to somehow make this an airtight design (overall), Heated/Cooled via Mini-Split (main area), with Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) for the cabin and a couple of through floor vents to keep the air in the crawlspace from going stale! Perhaps the floor vents will be enough to heat the crawl space - at least to the low extent I want it heated!

Convert Sketchup file to CorelDraw file
Hello folks,
I need send a file sketchup to colleague who uses Corel (extension .CDR). Exist any extension to sketchup or software where can I draw in sketchup and convert this file or save as in .CDR?
It can be in CDR or another extension that allows it to open in the software coreldraw.

Medeek Wall Suggestion
I think exterior walls need one more layer! EXTERNAL Insulation. It would go outside of the sheathing and inside of the cladding air gap.
And now that I think about it, the air gap could use a bit more detail. The exterior insulation I plan to use recommends 1x3 (nominal) vertical battens outside of the insulation, oriented vertically, centered on the stud centers and spaced same as the studs - and they will also function as the air gap spacer! Not sure what other options there should be.

Help Applying Logo Texture To Poligon Model's Shirt
Hi,
I’ve downloaded a poligon model of a man from the Sketchup 3D warehouse.
I’m having trouble applying a logo texture to the t-shirt the model is wearing as it’s a poligon model. I’d usually have no problem applying the logo on a flat surface.
I’ve uploaded the model below as a component and would greatly appriciate any help.

Free plugin for Oculus Go
Hi there,
I’m using Sketchup PRO (for work) in private just for fun and to educate myself.
I have also an Oculus Go and I want to see my private SKU models in VR. Only i don’t want tot use a expensive extension like Sentio or Yulio which I can’t afford.
Is there any way of making VR models for the Oculus or is there some cheap extension which you can use in private?

Datasmith extension not Showing in Export
Hi, I’ve installed Unreal Engine 4.25.1 and the Datasmith exporter for Sketchup. It all installed nicely but when I go to Export a model the Datasmith file extension option is not on the list. Just wondering if I need to enable it somewhere else within Sketchup?
