Hi,
When moving from a trial to a purchase for a plug-in (SimLab STEP importer) it has now disappeared from the sketchup ‘extension’ top bar menu. I think it is because I tried to download it again, though I needn’t. No matter what I do, I cant seem to get it back in the extension menu (tried to download and restart sketchup etc). Though Extension Manager seems to think it is still there… lost and confused. Any ideas how I can get to/use this plug-in??

I have been in design and production for residential and commercial cabinets for about 10 years. I find that Sketchup Pro is one of the best modeling spaces, hands down, for everything in residential construction and I see some great plugins like Plusspec, Medeek, and others doing great work for all the different products that go into building.
Currently, I only know of one main software add-on that uses Sketchup and that is Mosaic. There are many others that make attempts to provide pre-built libraries of cabinets that are not modeled for production purposes (parts and hardware included).
As yet, I haven’t seen a one stop plugin that can quickly aid the modeling process from schematic to the very act of preparing cut sheets and exporting nesting or at least .dxf files for CAD/CAM: all while being non-intrusive to the modeling experience and current UI of Sketchup.
So, my question is twofold, does anyone know of such a plugin and if it doesn’t exist, does it sound remotely possible to produce such an thing? When I look at PlusSpec and anything Medeeek has produced, I think yes. But I’m more an artist than a programmer so what do I know. If anyone could enlighten me that would be great.

Hi there,
I am on Mac OS 10.12.6 and SketchUp Pro 19.3.252
I am using both Animator and VRay and I am stunned and very happy with both of the Extensions.
And I was even more happy when I saw the option to output Animator-“video” through VRAY. And it always does start properly but then crashes completely after 3-5 frames…
So I tried to upload the rendering task to the cloud - which didn’t work at all… instead it starts normal rendering and crashes after some frames.
Can anyone offer some help or insight?
Thank you a lot

Hi,
Has anybody here experienced Curic Studio crashing SketchUp (MacOS 10.12.6, SketchUp version 2019.3)?
Even if I have ALL other extensions deactivated, and the whole “studio” reinstalled, any click on any “Studio’s” tool palette’s button kills Sketchup immediately.
Are there any known typical extension/version conflicts?
I tried to reactivate other of Curic extensions, they don’t cause this problem, as they haven’t before.
I tried to contact the author, but no reply at all… No support, forum, FAQ… $100…
Any idea?

If you’re someone who uses Rendering or Visualization aids with SketchUp I’m really curious to understand what you use it for.
For example, do you mainly use it to:
- help you validate your own design
- communicate your design ideas better to your client
- produce marketing material to help your client sell the product / design you’re making for them
And if you’re using it to communicate the design ideas to others, what’s most important to you?
- Photorealistic renderings
- Ability to generate renderings fast enough to show alternative views in a meeting
- Availability of styles that match your design aesthetic
- Visualizing or interacting using Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality
- something else?
Tell us more and also super keen to know which product you use!
Thanks for sharing!

I have tried to load the ThomThom Material Replacer in both ver 2019 and 2018, without success. I have also loaded the TT lib extension that is required. SU goes through the installation steps and appears to be working - but the extensions do not show up. They appear as “Installed” under Extension Warehouse but do not appear on the toolbar or in th list of options for the toolbar. I have tried “Run As Administrator” too, both versions, still doesn’t work. HELP.

I am using sketchup for the first time in about a year. All of my extensions are missing. I started to reinstall them and the extension warehouse (within sketchup) is essentially blank. all I get is three symbols in the upper left hand corner, forward, backward, and home.
One of the plugins I want to use on my current sketch is bezier curve. I logged onto the extension warehouse without difficulty, but I want to get it within sketchup if possible.
I feel as though I missed a change in process. Can you offer any help?
I am using sketchup pro 2016 on my surface book with performance base. It shows that it is licenced. I have used sketchup extensively in the past.
Thank you

Dear SketchUppers,
playing around with ThomThom’s TrueBend plugin, I cannot understand what exactly the Bend by Distance function does. Hoping for someone to enlighten me on this.
Say in this example above, what exactly is 15 cm? Whatever I measure after executing the command, there seems to be no 15cm.
And a second question please - on the plugin’s GitHub page, ThomThom wrote:
But I can’t find a way to bend the mesh to a specified radius.
Thanks for any input.
P.S. Here’s the file just in case - TrueBend Experiment.skp (27.2 KB)

Hi there,
I’m a bit desperate right now. I have drawn a Modell in Sketchup which I have to built coming week. There is quite a lot of sheet good which will have to be cut, so I want to give this work away.
However, when I tried to create a Cutlist (using Open Cutlist), the parts are not displayed “correctly”. For example, I have some triangles as base for a ramp. The cutlist only shows the lenght and the width of the component (adjacent and opposite side) and in the cutting diagramm only rectangles are placed on the sheet. Obviously I need my carpenter to cut a triangle and not a rectangle for me.
Is there a possibility to get the exact component with all angles and stuff on the Cutlist? Hope you can understand me, hard to explain it in english ![:see_no_evil: :see_no_evil:]()
Thanks in advance for any help!
Best

Hi Everyone,
I’m somewhat new to the forum so please forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place.
I need some help with the Flowify Plugin. I’ve watched several videos and that it was simple enough to understand but obviously I’m a noob and can’t get it right.
So basically I am trying to create a specific par of sunglasses and have drawn the design flat, Push Pulled to the thickness I want. Then I created the curve/shape I want it to bend to.
I put that Target face/shape in it’s own group. I then created a Base Face and put that in it’s own group. Next I created Target Lines to and from Base/Target Face, put those in a group and then Grouped all 3 together.
I place my half sunglass design in it’s own group. I select both groups, go to Flowify but get this multiple error message.
Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong or if there is another way I can bend my glasses to my desired shape.
Thank You, Any help is greatly appreciated! I have attached a few images.
Mike

I’d like to be able to have several copies of a “component”, but have the ability to control the visibility of nested objects at the instance level. So all the geometry stays identical and in sync according to the component definition, but each instance would have the ability to have different visibility states for the nested objects.
Of, course, this isn’t possible with components, but I think maybe an extension to could do this with a special type of group.
I model multi-family apartment buildings, and have several copies of each unit type throughout the building. But sometimes, the top floor will have a slightly different configuration, like a taller ceiling, or a different balcony, so I’m forced to make a unique copy of that unit for each variation. It would be great if I could manage the unit as a single “component”, but just toggle the visibility of the different variation objects as needed.
Does anyone know of an extension with this capability?

Hi there,
I recently started using vray for rendering my images. The result that I have obtained is far away from what I was expecting from that programme. I tried out many things and also played with the settings, but the quality of the image just won’t change - it just stays blurry and noisy. What else can I do to make the image more crisp? many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
- I’m new to Sketch up and I’m attempting to create a photo-realistic studded floor. The studded floor is called mondopave and I’ve attached an example of it to this.

My problem is that it’s currently just a flat texture in my model. I aim to have each individual stud raised a couple of millimetres but am unsure of how to achieve this.

I render my models via Vray and would like some help in how to achieve my desired 3D floor effect.
Many thanks, ![:slightly_smiling_face: :slightly_smiling_face:]()

So I successfully downloaded the latest ‘Fredo6 Corner’ plugin along with the latest accompanying ‘Fredo6 LibFredo6’ plugin.
I have been watching the online tutorials and the process makes complete sense…
However, when I choose the rounded edge tool, the other tool bar (as shown in tutorial video) does not appear.
Not sure what the issue is. I restarted the program and also restarted my computer… and no difference.
